Tēnā koe, nau mai ki He Tākuta Tipua | Standing in support of Dr Bernard Conlon
This website was set up by the communities the Murupara Medical Centre and its lead GP, Dr Bernard Conlon look after. It was created following a Medical Council complaint about comments made by Dr Conlon at a Health Expo in Murupara in August 2021.
At that time, Dr Conlon was asked to participate in an expo information session where he raised concerns about informed consent for children and pregnant women.
This website highlights the stories of why we as residents advocate for Dr Conlon and the surgery which looks after nearly 3,500 patients across Te Ika Whenua Ranges, which are:
Murupara | Galatea | Kaingaroa | Te Whaiti | Minginui | Ruatāhuna
United We Stand
In solidarity with Dr Conlon and the Murupara Medical Team.
In Te Ika Whenua, both locals who received the COVID-19 vaccine and those who wanted an alternative rongoā to protect them against the virus, support and appreciate the services at our surgery.
Te Ika Whenua is a resilient community made up of hard-case, hardworking and caring people. Regardless of past debates around decisions of whether to vaccinate or not, we lived the values of being kind and respectful of each other's right to choose what is best for that person's body and health challenges.
Why? Because it's the right thing to do and because we realise the importance of our surgery and the care it provides to our communities.
