Our doctors are 'a beacon of light'

25 January 2022

Mihi mai ki a Taima Cameron and her daughter, Kani Cameron.

Taima tells us how Dr Bernard Conlon and Dr Britta Noske have been a beacon of light for her, her daughter and their wider family.

“From birth, Kani has faced numerous medical challenges including life-threatening situations. It’s been quite scary for us as a whānau. Dr Conlon and Dr Noske have been a saving grace for us, they’ve been instrumental in our whānau well-being and my mental health.”

Taima says the two GPs have walked closely alongside her whānau over the past six years and have extensively researched cerebral palsy to help guide her family.

“They’ve been there the whole way and been honest with us throughout our journey. They’ve never sugarcoated anything about my daughter's disability. Dr Conlon gives me the confidence to care for my daughter and her special care needs. Thank you, Dr Conlon and Dr Britta, for your manaaki looking after our precious, centre-of-the-universe and cheeky little girl.

“My family, as well as the community need Dr Bernard and his team. We are already living under reduced medical services and my fear is for our safety if we lose our GPs,” she says.
