Drawn to share her story

23 November 2021

Left to right: Kendall Eagle, Raymond Eagle with Mum, Delwyn Eagle

Meet Delwyn, Kendall and Raymond Eagle. They’ve resided in Murupara for five years.

Mum, Delwyn, is appreciative of the support she and her whānau receive from Dr Bernard Conlon.

“I’d never met a doctor like him. He looks after my whānau including my moko. My moko got influenza real bad one time. Dr Conlon was straight with me then, telling me how the situation would go. He’s just so on! He tells the truth. All a person wants, when your whānau is sick is the truth. I love this doctor.”

Delwyn, with support from Kendall and Raymond, was drawn to speaking publicly at the recent Communities in Unity event in Murupara on Saturday. (13 November)

Delwyn tells He Tākuta Tipua why she got up on stage to talk to the hundreds of people in attendance.

“I wanted to tell people out there about my story. How I suffered from the vaccine because they (those administering the vaccine) don’t tell you about the side effects. I went through hell because the pressure was like a fist going into my brain. I didn’t even know what it was. I thought I had a brain tumour or an aneurysm.”

Before receiving her last Covid-19 vaccination, Delwyn tells us that she advocated for her whānau to get the vaccine. Now she encourages people to be careful because everyone’s body reacts differently to the vaccine.

“I went to Dr Conlon and spoke with him about my symptoms. We found out it was a spike protein that caused the severe reaction in my head.”

She told those at the Communities in Unity event that she received treatment – but would only describe it as a ‘rongoā’.

“I came home, 20 mins after taking the rongoā and it started to work.

“The way I was before taking the rongoā, I wouldn’t have been able to walk that walk I did today (13 November). I thank you Dr Conlon because the first time I met you – you were a truthful and honest man to my whānau and the community,” says Delwyn Eagle.

The Ministry of Health has published information about Covid-19: Vaccine side effects and reactions, which you can find here. Remember, if you experience health complications make sure to consult your doctor.
