Mihi mai ki a Denise Takahi and Margaret Martin who reside in Kaingaroa, a village that’s written directly to health officials to highlight their support for their local GP, Dr Britta Noske.

For 21 years, Dr Noske of the Murupara Medical Centre has served the Kaingaroa community which is nestled in one of the country’s largest man-made planted forests.

The Kaingaroa Forest Village manager, Denise Takahi, and its council chair, Marjorie Parker wrote the letter of support - signed by 90 residents.

It has been sent to the chief executive of the Lakes District Health Board, Nick Saville Wood, and a copy of it forwarded to the Covid-19 Response Minister, Chris Hipkins.

In the letter, Dr Noske is described as a passionate and caring doctor who is an advocate of natural health and wellbeing.

The letter says Dr Noske goes beyond the call of duty and that there is a need for more doctors who truly care about their patients.

The Lakes DHB replied acknowledging the letter and the work that Dr Noske provides to Kaingaroa.

Its chief executive, Nick Saville-Wood, continues by highlighting that the vaccination is mandated by government policy and under the law currently implemented by Lakes DHB.

He explained in his response that the Lakes DHB strongly endorses vaccination as the best way to protect the community.

The Kaingaroa Forest Village Council is still awaiting a direct response to its letter from the Covid-19 Response Minister’s office.
